Challenge: Day6/Day7/Day8/Day9
Holy! 9 days already! Time is flying by at the speed of light. Haha, just kidding because time is just going by in increments and light travels much faster... ehem.
Anyways, not TOO much to report, but I have pathetically atleast been doing ONE thing a day... almost because I hate failure and I don't want to have a write-off just yet.
Good things so far:
Anyways, not TOO much to report, but I have pathetically atleast been doing ONE thing a day... almost because I hate failure and I don't want to have a write-off just yet.
Good things so far:
- Im building habits..good ones
- Being lazy is becoming, if only a TINY bit, less appealing to me
Now, if I am at a loss of what to do, I usually slap on the leash...on Waffles...and we go for a long, brisk walk. She's getting in much better shape..and so am I! And when I am tired out, I come home and read..which is also edifying!
July 21st, Day 6: Did not get a whole lot done this day...I went to watch a movie with Serena (my little sister) and her best friend. Kind of like a small girls' day for them. We went to go see Something Borrowed, which was surprisingly way better than I expected.
- sat still and completed the book I started the day before
- took Waffles out for a long walk.
July 22nd, Day 7:
- Went shopping....Just kidding! Not for fun... I needed some supplies for cleaning the house post-reno because everything is either stained, has dirt streaked across it or is covered in sawdust. Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, you save me every time! I also needed some shorts for working the weekend, so I got those too.
- Hung out with Ben ( a friend of mine whom I havent seen in ages)! We were going to go see Captain America, but neither of us realized that it was opening weekend and the tickets were sold out...so instead...we went to the Ricky's across the street (I decided to link it because it has an honorable mention twice in my blog now), and just had a few drinks and split the most AMAZING DESSERT of all time...Sticky Toffee Pudding. Mmmmmm. I don't even want to know how many clogging calories are in that thing!
July 23rd, July 24th, Day 8/9:
- Weekend to End Women's Cancer!!!! Enough said! Click on the link for my recap of the experience! It was amazing! Over these past two days, I spent about 17 hours in the midst of the hot, blazing sun supporting these AMAZING women in their fight against cancer! Today finished up a little early than the day before...and I am just spent!
- YEOOOOGAAAAAAA TIME! Doing a restorative class today!
- I am now reading The King of Torts - John Grisham...I actually got a bit of a sunburn for the first time today and am a little scared of the elements now! I grabbed a tube of aloe vera and I plan on recuperating well.....I might step out for Spoon Me later...we'll see.. ;)

Challenge: day3/day4/day5
Keeping up with this challenge is becoming more and more difficult every day. I almost want to put "getting 14 hours of sleep a day - because I need to be well-rested" on the list... but we all know that's just "hokum" (Dr. Sheldon Cooper, Big Bang Theory).
Can you tell that I am going through favorite sitcom withdrawal? Or maybe missing school and itching to cite sources again...... "BAZINGA!" (Cooper, Big Bang Theory) .... but seriously...
July 18th, Day 3:
Can you tell that I am going through favorite sitcom withdrawal? Or maybe missing school and itching to cite sources again...... "BAZINGA!" (Cooper, Big Bang Theory) .... but seriously...
July 18th, Day 3:
- I took my lazy puppy on a long, well-deserved, and much needed walk. And it was - for the both of us.
- FINALLY stopped procrastinating and spent almost two hours on the phone with the Student Loans office and got my application under way. It was becoming one of the "You ever have so much to do that you just decide to take a nap?" days... so I just pushed through being rerouted to several different offices and got 'er done.
July 19th, Day 4:
- woke up and actually caught the last moments of the sunrise...which is..surprisingly something I don't see often during the summer. I went and spoke with a guy I know at my bank because he said he might be able to get me a job. BUT unfortunately, the hiring manager was out of town on vacation, so I get to go visit Mr. Ian once more next week.
- Went for lunch at Globefish with Ariffa! It was bordering on stranger-danger here because we hadn't seen each other for so long but I am so glad that we made the time. After a filling lunch, we strolled around the Kensington area and shopped a little bit. She showed me this wonderful thrift store, Trend Fashions, that seriously rocked my socks! I found a really cute dress for $15! I am definitely going back.
- My body was itching to go out so I decided to revisit the Broken City for Punk Rock Bingo! It was awesome! I am so glad I went, I got to see all of my high school friends and just had a good time in general.
July 20th, Day 5:
- Lunch date! again! I went out for lunch with my friends Kari and Alana, it was good to catch up, and talk about something other than school. Originally, we planned to go to Denny's because..let's face it... Breakfast is awesome at any time of the day...but then it was closed for renovations so we relocated to Ricky's..another breakfast diner. Haha! A strawberry milkshake, 3 pancakes, a pepper+pesto shrimp+goat cheese omlette and a cheesecake taster later..... I came home and
- decided to walk it all off! I took Waffles for another long, winding walk. And now we're both pooped. We're cuddling on the couch..
- ...and Im finally going to dig into a book! I picked a light read to get back into the swing of things. Nicholas Sparks is a tear-jerker, and The Lucky One sounds no different.
I'll report back after a few more days of productivity!

Challenge: day1/day2
I was thinking about my challenge last night, and I have decided that "hanging out with friends I rarely see" counts. Because I never do that. I am the worst friend alive. Seriously. Most awful friend. But the friends that are understand and only give me shit for it if I haven't seen them in a year are the best kind. So here's to you! Old pals! I love you and I am challenging myself to spend lots of time with you this summer (it isn't supposed to sound like that..).
Anyways, furthermore, I totally wouldnt be offended if 2/3 readers just "marked this blog as read" for the next thirty days because it's going to be a mundane recap of my daily activities. Otherwise, enjoy!

Anyways, furthermore, I totally wouldnt be offended if 2/3 readers just "marked this blog as read" for the next thirty days because it's going to be a mundane recap of my daily activities. Otherwise, enjoy!
July 16th, Day 1:
- ran errands for the Gaspers - they are wonderful family friends of ours, and Mr. Gasper is currently helping my parents lay flooring in our house because my mother is yet again upon a home-reno tyranny.
- went to a yin-yang class at Breathe - Hilarious factoid: I fell asleep during the last part of the yang portion. I was so tired, I just passed out for a few minutes.. thankfully, I woke up before the final shivasana and spared myself monumental embarrassment.
- went to the Gaspers' for a little wine/chips/dip, and to watch the fireworks. Earlier, during errands, I picked up a nice order of wine from this unique wine store called ZYN. Seriously amazing collection, and totally quaint spot on the outskirts of Inglewood. I got to enjoy some and I have to say.... I might have a new favorite... Its called Grey Wolf! So good!
All in all, it was a really good night! I was really glad to spend some time over at their place because I haven't seen them in so long. It was good to catch up.
July 17th, Day 2:
- helped with house renos! I sanded baseboards, painted them, and ran around to Home Depot to pick up parts for the toilet. I was so lost in there! It is terrifying! With so many nuts and bolts all over the place, I felt like I was in the gym locker of a transformer!
- went to a restorative class. We went through some pretty intense positions that were meant to stretch out the back. I don't know if they worked really well or I have lost all nerve control in my back...but I feel pretty good!

30 day productivity challenge
This year, after spring classes, I will only be getting 60 days of summer. And so far, it is flying by very quickly! I haven't been doing much since I finished school.. usually, my day consists of:
- eating
- sleeping
- watching tv (nothing proactive or constructive)
- eating way more than I should
- eating some more after that
- laying in bed
- rubbing my tummy, hoping for the ache to go away
- blogging
- watching movies
- sleeping more than 10 hours in a day
and really....this has got to stop. I am not even working out or going to yoga as much as I should..and I haven't done anything to edify myself in 30 days!! (I counted)
so I have decided upon a challenge. I have 30 days left until I head out on vacation across the Oregon Coast/Vegas/Cali. I plan to use those 30 days doing things that somehow make me a better person, inside or out. Atleast ONE thing/day. That shouldn't be too hard to handle. I guess the boundaries of this challenge are a little vague because honestly, some of the things that would qualify..seem like pretty lazy activities. In any case, I just want to get 'er done. Examples:
- read
- slowly work through my podcast on Human Behavioral Biology
- go to yoga
- sort out my music collection
- walk the dog
- review all chapters from BIOL1220/1221
That list seems stupid, I know...but honestly... 30 days has gone by in the summer so far, and I haven't read anything! I spent a large sum of money in Chapters at the beginning of this summer and have yet to crack a book open. Also, I want to replace watching all that useless tv with something that's going to make me smarter in the long run - Human Behavioral Biology. I want to walk my dog more. She's getting old and needs the exercise - and frankly, so do I. My music collection is so... empty and full of shit at the same time. I want to be able to just plug my iPod in and not have to press 'skip' every second song. I just want to make the most out of my summer.

Frazzled
\
Gratuitous Picture of Yourself (GPOY):

Except for I am definitely not that beautiful when Im frazzled.
Lots has happened since my last post, so I am just going to sum it up. Point form:
- I got fired from Joey's - "You mad bro?" "I ain't even mad"
long story short, whoever needs to know how it happened, does. Other than that, it wasn't a bad thing all around and I left on good terms with full references - I've been on a crazy job hunt since
- my sister is having a birthday party that I have to do everything for
- I started a bunch of new blogs! (reality: 2)
- I've been spending a lot of time with friends and I am really enjoying it!
- I actually got a job (casually) today!
What I am actually excited for ( and this just shows you my priorities) is my new blogs! I started a personal one on tumblr because it's so media-rich and full of all this funny stuff that I am not going to put on my medical blog (because it would ruin the professionalism of it even though I am usually half-naked, unshowered and in my bed when posting), and I finally figured out how to run it on the same account (because Im utterly lazy and everything needs to be simplified for me)! Anyways, sometimes, when I just troll for hours on the internet, I now have a place for all of it to go!
The second blog....ok...So I am SO EXCITED about this one: is all about SHOES! H E double hockey sticks YES! I just couldnt sleep one night, and rather than come on here and be a whino about how I couldn't sleep, I just decided to start it! I really like it, I already have a few followers, and honestly, it's probably the most fun I can have when Im pantless and alone in my bed.
Speaking of being pantless and alone in bed, I went to Punk Rock Bingo at the Broken City last night..and won a 7 hour porno! HA! WTF, right? I did not think they were legitimately going to give me porn, but they did! What an experience that was! I basically walked around feeling like I had just done some horrible injustice and I passed it along to someone else. Needless to say, I am really happy it's not going to be around the room when my extremely religious mother decides to snoop clean.
Moving on - NEW JOB! So, it's not actually some steady income, but it's something and I am totally pumped! Basically, I will be working for a company called BOOM! Marketing, and they are based out of Toronto, but they hire all across Canada for promotional events and stuff. They need staff who are cynical and sarcastic extremely enthusiastic and chipper, and that is why I am PERFECT! This next weekend is all about the Weekend to End Women's Breast Cancer! I am pretty excited!
I'll stop ending every sentence with an exclamation mark now and use this unbridled energy to cuddle the shiz out of my dog!
Later, dudes!

Summer Shenanigans
I went for Spoon Me with Ariffa today! It was awesome! They completely redid the store. Now, you choose how much you want to eat, they weigh it, and then you eat your heart out ($10 worth for me!). Ariffa says that it's healthy and I believe her because she's officially on the path to becoming a nutritionist. So no doubts there, I'll just continue shoveling 10 lbs of fro yo in my mouth with no qualms.

It was more awesome to hang with Ariffa though because I havent seen her in years (or like 6 months).... We caught up and she told me about this man she dubbed as "Harvard Man", this crazy man who terrifies young people with goals in life. I swapped some stories about a dog biting my father's ass. Good times were had. :) She is so wonderful!
I vowed that we would have lunch soon (which we will)!
Today is also Jill's birthday. I am trying to write her a poem for her homemade birthday card...but I am having serious writer's block. So far, this is all I have got:
Dear Jillian
You are so pretty.
like Christina Millian
...
do you see where the problem lies?

This is a legitimate sentence.
Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
No, seriously. Click the link.
I have no words for the useless ability of grammatical "intelligence" sometimes.
Yes. Don't make me. I could give you a migraine with my incessant groaning over pronunciation.
No, seriously. Click the link.

Lets Get Awkward

The only way I would ever be convinced by a period commercial like that is if I knew it was referring to the fact that it feels like the Korean war in my uterus and that serious ammunition (chocolate, popsicles, cute pictures of kittens/babies) was in stock and ready to rumble during what is now collectively referred to in pop culture as SHARK WEEK.
But of course, that is not what the wonderful camo pad is referring to...it's saying.."I've got your back, no one will know". UHM OFCOURSE PEOPLE WILL KNOW. IM WAILING ABOUT THE CURSE OF THE WOMB AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS, MY ARMS ARE SMEARED WITH CHOCOLATE. I RIP OUT THE HEART OF MERE BYSTANDERS WHILE MY RAGE IS UNLEASHED IN THE MOST HORRIFIC OF VERBAL ABUSES.
This time around is just super worse by the fact that I swear I have some variation of the streptococcus strain or bronchitis. Basically, yesterday morning, I started coughing uncontrollably every five minutes. Then, mid-afternoon, shark week began. With every diaphragmatic contraction, a surge of godforbidden pain and you-know-what-else would rush down, chilling my spine with the thought that something horrendous like a leak or ill preparation will embarrass me in front of .... my dog ...and bedsheets (obviously the only audience I can maintain in such a disposition).
Today, I literally did not leave my bed for 16 hours, except for the most necessary ablutions and to make a bowl of ramen. I just coughed every 5 minutes, maintaining a rhythm until I noticed that the excess air being gulped while gasping for breath in between coughs was now emerging as a belch, causing my phlegm to FOAM.
I apologize if this is just too much information to deal with, but the compounding of all earthly hate has caused me to cross all polite boundaries and social conventions with the public.

Busy Bee
I haven't posted on here in so long, and have barely been keeping my medical blog alive either. And before someone has assumed that I have died of a broken heart or something, I decided to spend some time reviving my blogs! I did a fun post on placentophagy (human consumption of placenta), so check it out in the archives!
About my relationship, long story short... we're back together again, but it feels like it's on completely different terms. Something happened that "changed" Colin, and I guess I am very happy that he has decided to take thing seriously, but I am very wary of the outcome and how long it will last. Only time will tell. And I still do love him dearly.
In other news, I finally finished classes on wednesday!!! I am so excited to finally have my summer! I plan to spend a lot of time doing things I love, including more school...ehem. I found this Human Behavioural Biology course podcast online, and I can't wait to dig my fingers in. I love school when it's something I want to do and it's on my own terms.
I've been working a lot as well...the money is not as promising as it seems.. :(
but my feet hurt less on certain days, so it's nicer.
I talked to Jill about starting up the fashion blog and we are both super stoked! It is an idea that has been on our hearts for a while and it would be wonderful to see it manifested.
Stay tuned, lovelies!
