I found this new blog on tumblr called Beautifully Modified Women (linked above), and I am glad to have stumbled upon it! I love tattoos and piercings and would honestly be COVERED from head to toe in them if I wasn't living at home and my parents didn't think it meant I was doing illegal substances.
As far as my own body mods, I have two tattoos, a small silhouette of a bird on my ankle ( that I will credit completely to inebriation in a foreign country), and a treble clef tattoo on my back. I got the latter for my 16th birthday, after begging my parents for months and months, and I STILL GOT IN TROUBLE. I also dyed the underneath of my hair a bright purple. My father went on to ask me if I was experimenting with drugs after that.
I think body modifications are really beautiful. I feel for the people that get judged because they have tattoos or piercings or unnaturally dyed hair. A long time ago, there might have been a congruence between "badassery" and body mods, but I think that this COINCIDENCE is far from prevalent now and society needs to learn how to accept change.
